PFA - Teflon® Perfluoroalkoxy
PFA is the Dupont's melt-processable answer to PTFE -- which means it can be extruded or injection molded. Traditional PTFE must be compression molded or ram extruded. PFA is more or less the high-temp version of FEP. This easy processibility and temperature capabilities come at an increased cost and a few differences: PFA is more flexible but has a lower flex-life, so it isn’t as capable of enduring repetitive folding. PTFE has a slightly higher heat resistance but worse creep resistance and thermal stability. The melting points of PFA and PTFE are 260°C and 327°C respectively. Water absorption and weathering affect PFA more than PTFE. PFA’s dielectric strength is 3 to 4 times higher than PTFE.
